What are the responsibilities of an OHNY Weekend Volunteer?
OHNY Weekend Volunteers are a key component in making New York City's 6th Annual city-wide
open house run smoothly. Volunteers work with the Site and Program Sponsors, the owners and managers
of the buildings, to ensure that each open house site is ready to receive what will surely be an eager public.
You will be assigned a shift at one of approximately 200 open house sites and programs over the weekend of October 4 & 5.
The shift will be approximately 4 hours long, but your start and end times will vary depending on your site's
open house schedule.
Are there benefits to becoming a site volunteer?
All OHNY site volunteers receive a button that allows you to jump any lines at all sites except
those that require advance reservations. You will also be invited to our post-Weekend volunteer party.
Do I get to pick my site?
We do everything possible to assign all volunteers to sites that fit their interests. With over
350 sites and programs, this is not always possible. Your short shift time will allow you plenty
of time to visit many other sites during the Weekend.
What is the mandatory training session for?
The training session allows us to meet you, introduce openhouse
newyork, and distribute your site
assignments, t-shirts, and buttons. The session also allows you a sneak peak into one of our sites.
You will also have the opportunity to meet other volunteers working at your site.
