Go behind the scenes for a guided bus tour of the 2,200-acre Freshkills Park, located on Staten Island's West Shore! Learn about the history of the Fresh Kills Landfill, which was the largest landfill in the world before closing in 2001, and discuss New York City's current waste management systems. See examples of the site's extensive engineering and infrastructure and learn about the process of closing and monitoring a landfill. Enjoy panoramic views of Freshkills Park and New York City. Gain insight into the ongoing transformation to public parkland, and see some of the wildlife that currently call Freshkills Park home.

Sunday Tour Info: This tour will last approximately 2 hrs.

Access Notes: Because this tour takes place in a closed area of the future park, all participants will need to sign an activity waiver before boarding the bus.
