Hercules Art Studio Program, launched in May 2016, offers a new model for providing affordable studio space for artists. Inspired by the common sensical observations that New York City needs artists as much as artists need the city, and that high rents are a barrier to retaining artists, the concept calls for those real estate owners who can to contribute to the community by renting to artists at a fraction of the market rate. For the pilot program, seven gifted young artists have taken up residency in newly designed studios at 25 Park Place in Lower Manhattan. For two years, the group will have 24/7 access to the studios and adjacent galleries, meeting spaces and commons area; and the power to program exhibitions, critiques or dialogues discussions as they wish.  On view during OHNY Weekend will be an installation by artist, Ofra Lapid.
